My Spiritual Journey
Wednesday October 5, 2005
A story tells that two friends were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other in the face.
The one who got slapped was hurt, but with out saying anything, wrote in the sand: TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE.
They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him.
After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone: TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE.
The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone, why?"
The other friend replied "When someone hurts us we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away.
But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it."
LEARN TO WRITE YOUR HURTS IN THE SAND AND TO CARVE YOUR BENEFITS IN STONE.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, but then an entire life to forget them.

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life.
"A fight is going on inside me" he said to the boy. "It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil-he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is good-he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.
This same fight is going on inside you and inside every other person too."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

I dreamed that I had an interview with God.
"So you would like to interview me?" God asked.
If you have the time I said.
GOD SMILED... My time is eternity...
"What questions do you have in mind for me?"
1. What surprises you most about mankind?
GOD ANSWERED:
"That they get bored with childhood, they rush to grow up, and then long to be children again."
"That they lose their health to make money...and then they lose their money to restore their health again."
"That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present such that they live in neither the present nor the future."
"That they live as if they will never die...and die as though they had never lived."
God's hand took mine and we were silent for a while...
And then I asked, As a parent, what are some of life's lessons, you want your children to learn?
GOD ANSWERED:
"To learn they cannot make anyone love them...All they can do is let themselves be loved."
"To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others."
"To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness."
"To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in those they love...and it can take many years to heal them."
"To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who needs the least."
"To learn that their are people who love them dearly, but simply do not yet know how to express or show their feelings."
"To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it differently."
"To learn that it is not enough that they forgive one another, but they must also forgive themselves."
Thank you for your time, I said humbly...
Anything else, you'd like your children to know?
GOD SMILED AND SAID..." Just to know that I am here. "Always"

Isn't it strange how a 20 dollar bill seems like a large amount when you donate it to the church, but a small amount when you go shopping?
Isn't it strange how 2 hours seems so long when you're at church, and how short they seem when you're watching a good movie?
Isn't it strange that you can't find a word to say when you're praying, but you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend?
Isn't it strange how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of the Bible, but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel?
Isn't it strange how everyone wants front row tickets to concerts or games, but they do what ever is possible to sit on the last row in church?
Isn't it strange how we need to know about an event at church 2-3 weeks before the day so we can include it in our agenda, but we can adjust it for other events at the last minute?
Isn't it strange how difficult it is to learn a fact about God and share it with others, but how easy it is to learn, understand, and repeat gossip?
Isn't it strange how we believe everything that magazines and newspapers and other people say, but we question the words in the Bible?
Isn't it strange how you ask God to show you the truth, but you allow other people to make you believe what they want you to believe?
Isn't it strange how you pray to God to send you the right person, but when He does you try to figure out what you can find wrong with them or blame them for because it's not who everyone else wants them to be?
Isn't it strange how everyone wants a place in heaven, but they don't want to do, believe, or say anything to get there?
Isn't it strange how we send jokes in e-mails and they are forwarded right away, but when we receive messages about God, we think twice about whether or not to share it with others?
Isn't it strange that the answers you've been begging God to send you are found in a simple e-mail, but you refuse to accept them because of what others might think?
IT'S STRANGE ISN'T IT?
"When God takes something from your grasps, He's not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive another blessing."
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Today we have higher buildings and wider highways, but shorter temperaments and narrower points of view.
We spend more, but enjoy less... Have bigger houses, but smaller families... More compromises, but less time More knowledge, but less discernment (judgement) More medicines, but less health.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values We talk much, love only little, and hate too much. We reached the moon and came back, but find it troublesome to cross our own street and meet our neighbors.
We have conquered the outer space, but not our inner space We have higher income, but less morals These are times with more liberty, but less joy... With much more food, but less nutrition...
These are days in which 2 salaries come home, but divorce increases. These are times of finer houses, but more broken homes.
That's why as of today you should: Not keep anything for a special occasion, because everyday you live is a special occasion.
Search for knowledge, read more, sit on the front porch and admire the view with out paying attention to the chaos.. Spend time with your family, eat your favorite food, visit the places you love.
Life is a chain of movements of enjoyment; it isn't only survival.
Use your crystal goblets. Do not save your best perfume. Use it every time you feel you want it. Take out from your vocabulary phrases like "One of these days" and "Someday"
Let's write that letter we thought of writing "One of these days" Let's tell our families and friends how much we love them.
Never pass up the chance of adding laughter and joy to your life. Remember every day, hour, and minute are special and you never know if it will be your last...
If you are too busy to take some minutes to send a message to someone you love and you tell yourself that you will send it "One of these days"
Just remember that "One of these days" can be far away and you may not be there to see it.
God Bless You!
