The apostles remind me a whole lot like our church brethren. All the churches argue about who's right and "We do church more scriptually than you"...
Even brethren amongst their own argue who has a higher position. Preacher's, elders, deacons, etc even get into these debates. How sad!
When the apostles were arguing amongst themselves, about who was the greatest and would get to sit at Christ's right side, Jesus had a young child brought amongst them and explained "that unless they (the apostles)and us too become as little children, we will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
Children depend on their parents for everything. Without parents children could not provide the necessities of life like shelter, food, etc. Are we any different?
So often, we (religious leaders) think we're God's gift to religion. Guess what? We are NOT! God doesn't need you or me. Satan was casted down out of heaven because of pride. Have we too become so prideful that we think we are better than everybody else.
Paul explains in 1st Cor. 12:12-31 that just as our physical bodies are made up of many parts (hand, foot, eyes, nose, ears, etc)so it is with the church. Truth is these names (Preacher, elder, deacon, etc.) are gifts given to us by God NOT titles or labels to elevate ourselves above others.
Lord, help me become humble, and give me too the heart of a child. Help me always to rely and depend on you for all my needs just as a child does his parents.
"For the first shall be last, and the last, first."

Many people today are searching for that 24hr/day 7 day a week fix. They search for it in drugs, alcohol, sex, other people, etc.
Although these things do offer temporary satisfaction, one is always left to look for more, because it never lasts permanently.
The reason it doesn't last is bacause true happiness is not found in these things. God didn't put true happiness in these things. If He did then we wouldn't need Him.
God wants us to fill up on Him. Jesus tells the woman at the well "If you would have asked me, I would have given you living water."
You see, she was looking for happiness in men. She had tried 5 and the one she was presently living with wasn't her husband. Who or what are you relying on for happiness? If it is anything other than God, you will be left empty, void, and disappointed.
God bless you all!

It never ceases to amaze me how many people blame God for things that often happen because of the choices they make. For instance, don't blame God for tornado damage if you choose to live in tornado alley. The same for hurricanes if you live near the coast, and earthquakes if you live in California.
The other thing that gripes me somewhat, is when people say God destroyed New Orleans because of all the wickedness. But I ask, is New Orleans any different than Las Vegas, or other places?
Jesus tells us this is foolish thinking in Luke 13. In chapter 13, there had been some murdered, and a tower had fallen and killed some people and the crowd began to say this was done because of all the wickedness, and Jesus asks the crowd, "Do you think these people are of any more sin than the rest?"
Some things happen because of the choices we make. Some things happen because of the choices other people make (for instance if another person chooses to drink and drive, their choice may effect my outcome, if they swerve into my lane). Let's not forget satan has his say in some things also as God allows satan to roam(for instance, story of Job, when satan used nature (tornado) to destroy and take away everything Job had, including his family). God bless you all.

I too often come to God, just as the prodigal son came to his father. You remember, the prodigal son wanted all the gifts a father has to offer. There was only one problem, he (the son) didn't want the relationship.
Many times, we too often come to God with our wish list. We say, "Lord, I'll come to you if...
But God doesn't make deals. And as my uncle often explains all God offers in this life is thorns and a cross. Jesus went to the cross, not for the joy that was in the cross, but rather for what was on the other side. Remember, this world is not our home, we're just a passing through, our treasures are laid up, somewhere beyond the blue.
God bless you all! Have a great day.
