Psalm 32:5 "I'll make a clean breast of my failures to God. Suddenly the pressure was gone--my guilt dissolved, my sin disappeared."
David chose to confess his failures to God. That's one reason why God called David a man after His own heart. He worked at keeping a clean slate. He humbled himself and confessed--he called his behavior what God called it--sin.
Our performance at work and home, our motives, our actions and our speech are greatly affected when we're burdened with guilt, especially accumulated guilt. How irrational we are to carry these burdens needlessly. Our failures never surprise or shock God. He knew about them in eternity past, yet He still sent His Son to die for all our failures/sins.
Whether your failures are seemingly small things or large, don't delay to clear your slate with with God. Then go quickly to the one you offended or hurt. An life with a clean slate can't be beat. It energizes and allows for maximum living.
Lord, I confess to You my failures and rebellion today. Help me keep my slate clean with You and others.
